CrystalPE is the new generation of mono-oriented Polyethylene (mdoPE) films by adapa.

It commonly serves as a printing layer and can be converted into all kind of common flexible PE packaging like lidding films, flowpacks, doypacks.

Available in transparent, white and matt, as well as metallised and coated.

Recommended unwinding tension can be even up to 13 kg for each meter of width, e.g. width 1000mm > 13kg.

A worldwide known Italian machine manufacturer used CrystalPE during the ERA (European Rotogravure Association) Packaging & Decorative Conference 2022 to demonstrate the printing capabilities and performance of mdoPE. Top speed reached: 600 m/min on a 9 colour rotogravure machine.

Linear-tearing
As the orientation takes place in machine direction an easy-opening function for bags and sachets is no problem, the laminate tears along a line.

Better machinability

  • Thanks to the higher thermal resistance CrystalPE has a wider sealing window leading to a better machinability on packaging lines.

Less elongation

  • The elongation in length is critical for printing machines. The higher tensile strength of crystalPE in machine direction is regarded more beneficial for printing.

Higher barrier properties

  • Since the water vapour transmission rate is lower, CrystalPE has superior H2O barrier properties to the tested BOPE. 

Easy-tearing

  • As the orientation only takes place in machine direction
    the easy-tearing function is maintained.

Regarding rewinding after printing and lamination, we recommend up to 30% less tension‚ compared to unwinding, helping the film to relax after the process.
